Country Fire Authority deploys Cisco Unified
Communication solutions for agility and scalability
Country Fire Authority (CFA) is committed to the
prevention, preparedness, response and recovery phases of fire and
other emergencies, protecting the citizens of
Victoria.
Challenge
CFA needed to expand its communication infrastructure to enhance
mobile communications access for firefighters and mobile vehicles
during a crisis. Most importantly, CFA needed a versatile solution
which was flexible, easy to set-up, user-friendly and able to
provide an uninterrupted response.
Solution
After extensive research and planning, CFA deployed a Unified
Communication solution based on a refresed network infrastucture to
support and secure their voice, data, video and wireless. Cisco
CleanAir wireless access points at Incident Control Centres
(ICCs) provided additional mobility and flexibility to CFA where
cabling was not viable, and for moblile sites.
Benefits
The new Cisco solution enabled CFA to extend the reach of its
network throughout Victoria (across over 1,300 locations),
consolidating and improving the infrastructure while providing
faster and more reliable performance. The network delivered a
scalability and mobillity while empowering CFA's responders with
better information sp they could work more efficiently.
Testimonial
"We had to develop an architecture that was synergistic with the nature of operations. Extending support to 2000 full-time staff with 61,000 volunteers at 1300 locations around the state, our solutions has to be very simple to use and operate. Serviceability is also key consideration for us as faulty components needs to be replaced quickly."
